What do you expect from us? What do we expect from you? (Condensed, full documents available on request)

Safeguarding

As Childminder and the services lead; I take certain precautions to protect myself, my family and anyone in association or working with me, by:

Ensuring all household members over 16 are DBS cleared. Any assistants working with me will also recieve a thorough DBS check.
Ensuring all visitors to the house do not have unsupervised access to the children under any circumstances.
Ensuring, where possible, that no workmen are in the house during minded hours.
Document every accident and incident that occurs whilst in my care.
Noting any marks on the children when they arrive and asking parents to inform me of any accidents that have occurred whilst outside my care
Ensuring the children are supervised at all times
I have a complaints policy in place which can be referred to. I have a duty to report any significant events/allegations about me/ my setting to OFSTED within 28hours.

You can also contact OFSTED if, as detailed in my complaints policy you feel you are unable to approach me directly.

Collection by an unknown person
Please let me know if anyone unknown to me is due to collect your child from my setting. I will not release any child from my care to any persons unknown to me or unlinked to your family. I appreciate in an emergency, this may not always be possible and therefore, I would ask in all instance; you to provide a ‘password’ or ‘question’ to verify their identity.
Please discuss this with me as soon as possible and I can detail in your childs file.
Non collection
In the event that no-one shows to collect your child at the time specified, all attempts will be made to contact you/ the two listed contacts listed on your childs record after 15minutes.

If there has been no response within that hour; Local social services authorities will be contacted to find suitable, temporary accommodation for your child.

*IN COMPLIANCE with legislation and GDPR, please note that your information will be used as described above if necessary/ Where appropriate with external multi-agency teams; whereby the safety of a child comes under scrutiny.
It may also be necessary to share information with regards government funding placements and local agencies, however, in such circumstances, consent will always be sought first.
*In relation to photographic images taken for learning and development purposes, please note that these images will be sent to you, securely kept on your childs file/ then wiped permanently from the device in which they were taken. This will usually be my works mobile which is passcode encrypted.
*Any images used for advertising and/or social media, will NEVER reveal the identity of your child and will only show evidence of an activity we have taken part in.
*As a registered business with the ICO for storing data, I have a responsibility to report any breach of security to you straight away.

Equal oppourtunities and Inclusion

As an Ofsted registered Childminder I am restricted to the number and ages of children that I can care for at any one time. When working with an assistant, this ratio can then double.
We adhere to the regulations specified in the Childminders EYFS PUBLICATION.GOV (Safeguarding and welfare requirments)

We are happy to take on any child within our registered numbers provided we feel we are able to manage their individual needs which does not effect our commitments to the other children in our care.
We will not discriminate against children or their families for reasons such as race, religion, sex or ability.
We will not accept any discriminative practice in our setting at any point and therefore, anyone (child/parent) found doing so will be challenged and repeat offensive behavior may result in the loss of a childs place.
We value both male and female parents/carers, irrespective of whether they choose to work or stay at home.
We also recognize the potential harm of extremism in any area of our lives and the new counter-extremism act 2015. (Please also refer to ‘Radicalisation and extremism’ policy policies extended).
We are happy to take on children with additional needs, providing I feel we can provide them with the care they need.
If your child has additional needs, please discuss them with me first so we can put an individual care/learning plan in place.
All children will be welcomed and I will encourage the other children in my care to support me with this.
I operate and have received training under ‘Trafford’s Grauated Approach to Early Years’ and therefore, I will lean on their services where I feel necessary, to assist and support any child in my care that may need it.
A settling in period may be required, so if you or your child or I am not happy with the arrangement it can be terminated easily.
When taking on additional children I must take into consideration the children already in my care who are happy and settled. It would be very unfair on them to introduce a child who was disruptive.
If you have any concerns regarding my admissions policy please do not hesitate to contact me.

Complaints

If you should ever need to make a complaint about me; a member of staff; a member of my family/ provision, I would hope that in the first instant you could approach me and together we could make clear/ resolve a situation.
I will document details of the complaint; the necessary steps taken to resolve the situation and the resolution. OFSTED will be made aware within 24hrs after receiving this complaint and then given details of its resolve.
However, if you feel you are unable to approach me with the complaint, please contact OFSTED. My setting is regulated by OFSTED who will then take the next necessary steps.
Contact details can be found at ofsted.gov.uk 0300 123 1231 / their details listed on my registration certificate which is displayed within my setting at all times.
